A Letter from Mike

Friends and Colleagues,

I am honored to be considered a 4th time for the office of Vice-President Elect of the SNMMI.

The 3 goals I have for this position are simple, optimistic, and have I have shown proven leadership in these areas:

  1. Building Trust among leaders in Nuclear Medicine: I have served broadly in the nuclear medicine community for 28 years. Amongst the many roles are SNMMMI Committee on Chapters President, SWC SNM President, ACNP President, SNM HOD Speaker, SNMMI Secretary/Treasurer, and 10 years on the SNMMI BOD.

  2. Applying Financial Knowledge/Skill sets: I completed my term as SNMMI Secretary/Treasurer in 2016 and my Certified Physician Executive certification by the American College of Physician Executives in 2010. I am currently Chair of the SNMMI Finance Committee serving on the BOD for several years now. I’ve gained experience in interpreting financial balance sheets, leadership skill building, organizational governance, etc. This perspective is helpful and unique to the Executive Leadership team during this challenging time.

  3. Applying a Clinical and Academic Background with Modern Healthcare: I am a full-time nuclear physician practicing general Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and Nuclear Cardiology. As Clinical Professor, I’ve been very active in Governance in my organization. I have recently completed 12 years as a governance Board member of our Scott&White organization in Central Texas; and am ready to expand my service to the SNMMI. Our systemized group practice model (Baylor Scott & White Health) combined with academics is a model that is currently being embraced by the US as a future model of Healthcare. Bringing this background and experience to the SNMMI leadership team can strengthen our specialty, as we move forward with Healthcare reform implementation, and how it affects our specialty of Nuclear Medicine.
