Celebrating Women’s History Month: Women in Nuclear Science

Wulf Hess, M.D sponsored a presentation by Grace Stanke, Miss America 2023, at the 67th Annual Meeting.

Grace gave a 30-minute talk over lunch on Friday, March 24. She spoke on her experiences with nuclear reactors and how they support the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging.

The Miss America Organization is the nation’s oldest women’s competition and the leading provider of scholarships for women in the United States. Grace Stanke, representing her home state as Miss Wisconsin, was awarded the life-changing title of Miss America 2023.

Grace will use her national platform to continue advocating for Clean Energy, Cleaner Future. She believes that America needs to convert to zero-carbon energy sources and her social impact focuses on breaking down misconceptions surrounding nuclear power. Grace is in her senior year at the University of Wisconsin – Madison studying nuclear engineering.
